CTV Danlambao / Translate by Dieu Quyen (Danlambao) Latest news from Nha Trang: police arrested blogger Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh (Me Nam Gau), Pham Van Hai, Nguyen Ho Nhat Thanh (Paulo Thanh Nguyen) and Trinh Kim Tien at 08h45 this morning, on 19/04 /2014.

All 4 bloggers were arrested while present at the venue for the 3rd meeting on humans rights, organised by the Vietnamese Bloggers Network, with the theme “Convention against Torture and Death of citizens in police station”. The discussion is scheduled to take place on the same day at 09h30 am at Café Swing, 20 Tran Phu Street, Ward Loc Tho, Nha Trang city.

After being illegally arrested, all 4 bloggers were taken to be held at the police headquarter, Loc Tho Ward, 17 Yersin, Van Thanh, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa. Phone number: +84 58 830 3822. Currently, all contact with those arrested had been cut off.

It is known that, the meeting of the Vietnamese Bloggers Network this morning was attended by the family of Ngo Thanh Kieu, a victim of Phu Yen Police, who was tortured and beaten to death in 2012.

Due to pressure from Nha Trang police, Swing Café, the conference venue, announced early in the morning that they would not accept any customer (while it has capacity for up to 500 seats). Many policemen both in uniforms and plainclothes were mobilized to surround the shop.

Before being arrested, blogger Nguyen Ho Nhat Thanh (Paulo Thanh Nguyen) shared on facebook: “Although the Nha Trang underground police force is trying to stop us but looking at the innocent faces of the two children of victim Ngo Thanh Kieu, we know we have to try harder!”

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Lan - mother of blogger Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Quynh said: I heard the very loud screams and yells of my daughter, Me Nam Gau, when they threatened to beat her up. I also heard Paulo Thanh Nguyen shouted: “They are the children of the victim who was beaten to death”

It is known that blogger Me Nam as well as husband and wife Nguyen Ho Nhat Thanh and Trinh Kim Tien all have very young children, but it was because they understood the feelings and situation of those families with young children whose father or mother died suddenly in police station that they tried so hard to find a way to stop this from happening.
